Rick Stein

Rick Stein KitchenwareMuch loved celebrity chef Rick Stein is best known for his love of seafood and passion for travelling.

Rick's cooking career began with the opening of The Seafood Restaurant in Padstow, in the venue of his former nightclub. Rick now runs many eateries across the south of England, ranging from a fish and chip shop to high end restaurants. Rick also presents many cooking shows for the BBC from Seafood Odyssey to his most recent series, Rick Stein's Long Weekends.

These stunning designs, inspired by the land and seascape of Cornish coves, were the winning entry in a competition Rick Stein launched to final year Art & Design students at Falmouth University, Cornwall to create his new tabletop collection.

Coves from north Cornwall have been hand painted in watercolour showing the depth and colour variations in the sea. The clean design of the bone china forms compliment the subtly changing shades of each cove resulting in a unique and highly collectible range of coastal tableware.

Rick and Sarah Stein chose the winning illustrations, designed collectively by Heidi May Summerbell, Francesca Rowe, Daria Martyn, Sophie Rawe and Becky Thorbes. At the time of judging Rick said "It was a great experience working with students from Falmouth University who took on the project with enormous enthusiasm and professionalism. I was very impressed with the quality of everything submitted, so much so that actually it was very hard to choose a winner".
